The Story of New Life social services

Introduction

  New Life Social Service Centers (NLSSC) emerged with a vision to combat homelessness and offer vital support to veterans, individuals and families in need. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Atlanta, GA, NLSSC has dedicated its efforts to providing homeless prevention and rapid re-housing services for veterans and families in Fulton, Dekalb and Cobb Counties, GA. With a steadfast commitment to empowering lives and fostering stability, NLSSC has become a beacon of hope for countless individuals facing housing insecurity. 

Early Beginnings

NLSSC's journey began with the founder's military experience, being deeply moved by the plight of homeless veterans, individuals and families. Determined to make a meaningful difference, he established NLSSC with a clear mission: to provide comprehensive support services aimed at preventing homelessness and facilitating rapid re-housing solutions.

Mission and Vision

 At the heart of NLSSC's mission lies a dedication to serving those who have served our nation and vulnerable families facing housing crises. The organization envisions a future where every veteran, individual, and family has access to safe, stable housing and the support necessary to thrive. NLSSC recognizes the inherent dignity and worth of every individual, and its programs are designed to uphold these principles by offering holistic assistance tailored to each person's unique needs.

Homeless Prevention Coming soon

NLSSC works proactively to prevent homelessness by offering financial assistance, counseling, and case management services to individuals and families who are currently facing homelessness or imminent risk of homelessness. Through targeted interventions and resource coordination, NLSSC helps clients overcome financial hurdles and stabilize their housing situations.

Rapid Re-Housing

Transitional Housing Program (TLP) - Phase I

Homeless Prevention Coming soon

For those already experiencing homelessness, NLSSC provides rapid re-housing assistance to facilitate swift transitions into permanent housing. This includes rental assistance, housing location assistance, and ongoing support to ensure successful integration into their new homes and communities.

NLSSC's dedicated team of case managers offers personalized support to clients, addressing various barriers to housing stability. From employment assistance and life skills training to access to healthcare and mental health services, NLSSC provides comprehensive support services tailored to each individual's needs.

Supportive Services

For Prison Inmates Eligible for Parole must be the following:

  • Eligible for Parole 
  • In a California or Georgia Department of Corrections 
  • Able to participate in monthly groups through U.S. Mail
  • Must be eligible for parole 6 months to 1 year prior to inquire
  • In need of supportive services

You may be eligible for utility assistance if any of the following apply: 

  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Food Stamps
  • Medicaid/Medi-Cal
  • Senior citizen low-income discount plan offered by the local gas or power company
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
  • Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
  • Currently have a Past Due Notice

You may be eligible for Anger Management/Parenting Classes

 if any of the following apply: 

  • Mandated by Georgia Superior Court Systems
  • Required by Probation/Parole Office
  • Required by Georgia Division of Family and Children Services
  • Youth Mandate
